England. Harmonic Inc. announced that its Omneon MediaGrid storage center has been integrated by BBC Sport into a new file production system designed for the creation of instant images and quick edits.
This product provides central storage for over 1,500 hours of HD content and supports editing workflows for Final Cut Pro® editor installations.
From the use of the new BBC Sports workflow, events are recorded inside EVS servers for instant registration and editing and directed to Omneon's MediaGrid via EVS XTAccess. The scalable system is capable of supporting 36 transfers of digital editing content to storage system.
"The BBC has relied on Omneon's systems for more than a decade and now with its shift to a faster production system, the company has also selected to implement a storage solution of the same name, which offers high performance and fundamental strengths in live streaming applications," said Geoff Stedman, Senior Vice President of Marketing at Harmonic.
