Argentina. Through Decree 302/24, Decree 690/20, enacted in August 2020, which declared Information and Communication Technology (ICT) services essential public services, establishing price regulation by the National Communications Entity, Enacom, was repealed.
According to the National Telecommunications Entity, Enacom, "The measure is essential to reverse the negative effects on the communications and connectivity market. These decisions have led to a decrease in the investments needed to generate progress, growth and employment, encouraging an increase in disproportionate state intervention in the sector. Decree 690/20 represents yet another example of unjustified interventions that distort the rules of the game, with a negative impact on the service providers."
The regulator added that "This decision allows us to free up the market and promote the development of quality services, guaranteeing equal treatment for all users."
